“Beguiled by Beauty: Cultivating a Life of Contemplation & Compassion,” Wendy Farley

Often we think of “compassion” as something only gentle and soft. We may not know or forget that compassion — (at its depth, when we are clear) — can also be fierce, wild, is sometimes loud, and is fully capable of meeting and addressing the injustices and staggering tragedies we may experience, witness and cause in our lives. Wendy Farley, in my experience, never fails to meet, describe, call us into, and provide trail-markers for living a life of fierce wisdom & compassion. I don’t think this book’s reviews do justice to the depth of what she shares. I see my life as a Black, Buddhist, priest, multisexual, equity-minded, change agent, and other (temporary) identities well represented. Bless her and this work.
